Renting a motorbike, car or boat involves real risks. This page explains what Sewa Rent does to reduce them, what we do not do, and what you can do yourself. No platform can remove these risks, and a rental booked through Sewa Rent is not risk-free.
What we do
- Every listing is reviewed. Our operator looks at each new listing before it goes live: category, photos, contact rules and prohibited items. This is a quick check of the content. It is not an inspection of the item, and it does not check the owner’s identity or documents.
- Optional verification badges. Owners can choose to be verified. A “Verified owner” badge means that, on the date shown, our operator checked the identity of the person or business behind the account (by video call on WhatsApp, in person or from documents) and confirmed their WhatsApp number. A “Verified listing” badge means that, on the date shown, our operator checked that the item exists and matches the photos. A listing without a badge has not been verified. A badge is not an inspection of condition, a seaworthiness or roadworthiness certificate, proof of licences, permits or insurance, a background check or a guarantee, and things can change after the check. See the Risk and Liability Disclaimer.
- Contact details stay private until confirmation. Phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers and exact pickup points are shown to both sides only after the owner confirms a request.
- Reviews from real rentals. Only guests who completed a rental can review. Owners can see a guest’s reliability indicator.
- Clear rules before you book. Each listing shows the price, deposit, licence requirement, insurance status, cancellation deadline and, for boats, the weather clause. These are statements by the owner, and we do not check them for accuracy.
- Reports and moderation. You can report a listing, user or review. We aim to confirm each report within 24 hours and to answer or give a plan within 5 business days. We can warn, suspend or close accounts.
- Reliability records. Late cancellations and no-shows are recorded for guests; owner cancellations, no-shows and slow responses are recorded for owners. Poor records reduce visibility and can lead to restrictions.
- No passport retention. Owners must never keep a passport or original ID. Report any owner who asks.
What we do not do
- We do not own, operate, inspect, maintain or insure the items on the Platform.
- We do not take payments from guests and do not hold deposits.
- We are not a party to the rental contract between you and the owner.
- We mediate disputes on request but cannot order a payment or decide who is legally right.
- We do not check the owner’s statements in a listing (condition, licences, permits, insurance) for accuracy, and we cannot promise that a rental will be safe.
What you can do
Before you book
- Read the listing: deposit, insurance, licence requirement, cancellation deadline.
- Check recent reviews and the owner’s response time.
- Make sure you have the right licence: see the Licence and IDP Guide.
At pickup
- Look at the item together with the owner. Take timestamped photos or a short video of every side, the odometer and the fuel level, the same at return.
- Check brakes, lights, tyres, helmets (SNI) or life jackets.
- Never leave your passport. Offer cash deposit or another agreed security.
- Read the rental agreement before you sign.
While renting
- Obey traffic and marine rules. Do not drive or sail after alcohol. Alcohol can void insurance.
- Keep the owner’s WhatsApp contact and the booking number at hand.
- Never ride without a helmet.
If something goes wrong
- In an emergency, call local emergency services first. General emergency number 112; police 110; ambulance 118 or 119; fire 113; search and rescue (Basarnas, including at sea) 115.
- Tell the owner by WhatsApp straight away. If there has been an accident, get a police report where possible.
- Then write to us at support@sewa.rent or WhatsApp +62 877-7783-7084 with your booking number. We will help where we can.
For owners
- Provide safe, legal, maintained items and the safety gear that goes with them.
- Check licences at pickup.
- Never keep passports or original IDs.
- Be honest about insurance and deposits.
See the Owner Partner Agreement and the Community Guidelines.
